Fundaments of the Arcane

In the Academy of Artaxios, young magisters learn the ways of the arcane arts. They study magic under the supervision more experienced practitioners, and safeguards are put in place to prevent disaster, but sometimes an apprentice becomes too confident and too arrogant.

This story is a warning, a cautionary tale shared with us by one the scholars of that great academy, regarding a horrific incident that occurred when one of his students ignored his warnings and called forth powers which could not be contained.
